New generation Timm Master SBA™
Engineered to Last Longer
Abrasion is the single biggest driver of early rope retirement. Every pass through a fairlead, every contact with a rough berth surface, every tension cycle at a working bollard gradually degrades the outer fibres of a mooring rope — reducing its strength long before the line looks worn. The new generation TIMM Master SBA™ is built to withstand exactly this.
The rope’s construction — 75% polyolefin with 25% high-tenacity polyester (HT PES) concentrated in the outer layer of each strand — puts the most abrasion-resistant fibres exactly where contact wear occurs. Recent advancements in rope construction technology made it possible to achieve a 34% improvement in abrasion resistance without increasing the quantity of material or the overall weight of the rope — a meaningful gain in performance with no trade-off in handling. Testing data tells the story clearly:

Longer service life means fewer replacements, lower procurement costs, and less operational disruption at every port call.
Safety at the Core — Literally
The TIMM Master SBA™ is the only mooring rope in the world to carry DNV’s statement of qualified technology for its integrated Snap Back Arrestor (SBA™). When a rope fails under load, it doesn’t just break — it recoils at high velocity into the crew’s working zone. The SBA™, built directly into the rope’s core, absorbs part of that energy and reduces the danger for everyone on deck.
This DNV qualification, awarded following a rigorous test program under DNV's recommended practice, is not matched by anyother product on the market.
What’s New in the 2025 Generation
The new generation brings a series of targeted upgrades based on operator feedback and advances in rope technology:
- Improved abrasion resistance — a 34% step up in cycles-to-failure testing, delivering a longer operational lifetime in tough conditions
- Increased compactness — a denser construction for higher durability and better performance on winch drums and through fairleads
- Enhanced anti-twist colour indication — improved contrast on the blue and white indicator, making it easier for crew to spot dangerous twists in demanding conditions
- Expanded product range — a wider selection of sizes and configurations to meet the needs of every vessel type and mooring arrangement
The rope is type-approved by DNV, with ClassNK certification available on request, and meets all OCIMF MEG4, SIRE, RightShip RISQ, SOLAS, and Intertanko requirements.
