Under the programme, Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) officers will join WPS representatives to study selected areas of business operations, including full agency, cargo operations, and husbandry services. This will provide officers with first-hand insight into how port calls are managed, the use of operational platforms, and the interactions between WPS and ecosystem partners.

Through on-ground observations and immersion, WPS and MPA aim to identify key challenges and opportunities where new technologies such as artificial intelligence, digital tools, and paperless solutions can improve efficiency, safety, and information flow.

For WPS, the collaboration provides an opportunity to contribute practical perspectives to Singapore’s wider maritime digitalisation journey. As ship agencies serve as important intermediaries connecting vessels, ports, authorities, customers, and service providers, effective digital connectivity among stakeholders is increasingly vital to port efficiency.

The programme represents the first structured On-Job Study between the two organisations and reflects the importance of close collaboration between the public and private sectors to address industry challenges and capture emerging opportunities.
