Main Air compressor is one of the most important Auxiliary machineries onboard as compressed air is required as starting air, control air and also for service purpose. Many incidents of compressor breakdown take place onboard because of improper maintenance. It is imperative that marine engineers possess sufficient knowledge of the principle of working, maintenance and troubleshooting of compressors.

The course covers the aspects of air compressor theory, and hands on experience of overhaul of compressors including case studies.
