Irene Waage Basili elected new board member

Irene Waage Basili was elected new board member at Wilh. Wilhelmsen Holding ASA's annual general assembly today, 3 May 2016.

Ms Basili was elected for a period of two years. Ms Basili replaces Bettina Banoun, who has served on the board since 2005.

Ms Basili is independent of the major shareholder, Tallyman AS, and holds no shares or options in the company.

“Ms Basili has more than 25 years of experience from shipping and several segments within the maritime industry from Norway and abroad. Combined with board experience from other large conglomerates, Ms Basili will add a solid industrial, commercial and strategic perspective to the board,” says Wilhelm Wilhelmsen, chair of the nomination committee. 

Currently, Ms Basili (born in 1967) holds the position as CEO at GC Rieber Shipping ASA. She was previously vice president at Petroleum Geo Services ASA and CEO at Arrow Seismic ASA. She was also part of the Wilhelmsen group for some ten years, latest as commercial director in Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics. 

Ms Basili is board member of Kongsberg Group ASA and Pacific Basin Shipping Limited.
