Wilhelmsen Ships Service launches electric vessel charging station in Singapore
Wilhelmsen Ships Service celebrated the official launch of its electric vessel charging station at its Pandan Loop facility, marking a significant milestone in supporting the electrification of harbour craft as part of Singapore’s maritime industry shifts towards lower-emission solutions.
Wilhelmsen Ships Service’s newly operational charging station is an integral part of the electric vessels coastal charging infrastructure. In partnership with Yinson GreenTech, this facility is strategically positioned to support Singapore's first fully electric cargo vessel, Hydromover, and other electric harbour crafts.

Over the past two years, Wilhelmsen Ships Service has also been a part of the Coastal Sustainability Alliance (CSA) initiative with various industry partners to support the development of electric charging infrastructure to accelerate the wider adoption of electric vessels in Singapore.
Kjell Andre Engen, President of Wilhelmsen Ships Service, emphasised the significance of the milestone: "We believe that transitioning from internal combustion engines to modern electric harbour crafts can significantly reduce emissions and enhance air quality at ports. This initiative aligns with our goal of minimising our carbon footprint in maritime logistics and deliveries. It also represents a tangible step towards assisting our customers in addressing Scope 3 emissions within their value chains."
Jan-Viggo Johansen, Managing Director of marinEV, Yinson GreenTech’s marine electrification arm, added, "This collaboration underscores the critical role of infrastructure readiness in scaling maritime electrification. A robust charging network is essential to support the growing fleet of electric harbour craft, including our enhanced electric cargo vessel Hydromover 2.0 and electric passenger hydrofoil vessel Hydroglyder. These innovations, when paired with smart, future-ready charging solutions like this station, pave the way for cleaner, more efficient port operations. We are proud to work alongside WSS to help maritime players to enhance operational performance while advancing toward their low-carbon goals.
The official launch event brought together stakeholders, industry leaders, and customers committed to operational decarbonization efforts. The launch event featured a ribbon-cutting ceremony to unveil the electric charging station.

Highlights of the event include a first-hand viewing and demonstration of the electric vessel charging station and a panel discussion on the electrification of port operation and the related impact of Scope 3 emissions, featuring panellists from Wilhelmsen Ships Service, Yinson GreenTech, and SP Mobility.
