Safe corridors for crew change and crew welfare

In March 2020, the largest crew change locations in the world had partial or complete bans for crew changes, on top of mass cancellations of flights. Causes for hindrances to crew changes include complete bans on crew change, restricted movements within countries, partial bans on certain nationalities and shortage of flight availability

80% of popular crew change locations were not allowing either onsigning or offsigning. However, by September 2020, 80% of ports started to become open for crew change under potential conditions.

The current process for crew change is impacted by severe restrictions in both country of origin and destination country where the vessel is located - creating multiple logistical challenges. Hence, we aimed to create safer environments for seafarers by launching a few initiatives on the ground.
