21.08.2009 (Ships Service )
The world’s leading maritime service network, Wilhelmsen Ships Service, has signed an agreement with Indian shipping company SCI Forbes Ltd to supply their Unitor range of products to four newbuild chemical tankers.

The tankers will be completed at Sekwang Heavy Industries, Ulsan, Korea by the end of 2009. The first vessel has already been commissioned with products and services already procured from Wilhelmsen Ships Service. These include initial supply chemicals, welding consumables, testing kit, high pressure cleaning machine and oxy / acetylene / refrigerant gases. Wilhelmsen Ships Service also carried out the Nitrogen installation in collaboration with their sister company Wilhelmsen Ships Equipment, Korea.

The Unitor product range includes welding and surface applications, marine chemicals, gases and refrigerants, fire-fighting, safety and lifesaving equipment, and all associated services and support.

The business was secured by Wilhelsmen Ship Service’s Indian account sales team. Moloy Das, Sales Manager (Indian Sub-cont), who led the negotiations commented, “This is a good achievement for Wilhelmsen Ships Service.  The contract is for the supply of our Unitor product line for a minimum of two years.” The same order will be repeated for the next three vessels.

SCI (Shipping Corporation of India) is India’s largest state owned shipping company with a diverse fleet of more than 80 vessels.  SCI FORBES is a 50-50 joint venture with Forbes.
