Wilhelmsen Ships Service recognises that companies dealing in mining and transporting minerals represent a segment of the shipping market with special needs. To meet these needs, they have set up a specialist Minerals Segment Team comprised of individuals from different parts of the organisation with knowledge and expertise in specific aspects of bulk transport.
Eight members of the team from six different continents were at the exhibition in Bali to advise visitors on the best means of handling bulk cargoes in different locations.
“This was a very useful experience,” said Roy Davidson, Global Minerals Segment manager. “It is invaluable for our customers to have the opportunity to get first-hand knowledge of the challenges they will face. By pooling information about the best shippers, brokers and traders, we can ensure that we give the best advice to our customers. We can streamline the process, speed up delivery and help avoid the pitfalls that can cause expensive delays.”
