SHINPETROL awards site supervision contract to Wilhelmsen Marine Consultants/for 10 newbuildings x 22,500 dwt geared handysize bulk carriers.
Barber Ship Management in Kuala Lumpur already manages 2 handysize bulk carriers from Shinpetrol and on the 08th Feb 2007, Shinpetrol entrusted our sister company Wilhelmsen Marine Consulting the site supervision of 10 x 22,500 dwt bulker to be built at Bach Dang Shipyard with the first steel cutting taking place in Sept 2007. The project will be ongoing until 2012 if schedules.
Vinashin Petroleum Investment & Transportation Joint Stock Company, commonly known as Shinpetrol JSC is a subsidiary of Vinashin Shipbuilding Industry Cooperation, commonly known as Vinashin. Shinpetrol’s main trading activities are:
- Trading in import/export of LPG with local production and consumption under the brand name Vinashin GAS.
- Trading in oil and gas transportation, shipping agent, shipping broker and relevant shipping services.
- Deals with infrastructure of golf courses, 5-star hotels, buildings, offices, restaurants, shipping industrial parks, shipyard and real estate.
Shinpetrol has a series of remarkable shipbuilding projects for the period 2007 – 2012 aggregating to a total of 62 newbuildings of diversified types namely, MR product tankers, LPG Tankers, Aframax Tankers, Handysizes, Handymaxes, Panamaxes and Post-Panamaxes sizes.
The GM of BSM-KL and WMC Shanghai including Lucas Chong were invited for the Shinpetrol’s Annual Party on 9th Feb 2007 where we have experienced the spirit of teamwork and concrete enthusiasm of the General Director Mr Nguyen Duy Hung’s excellent annual speech made to his staff and some VIP guests. Shinpetrol is a relatively new company with ambitious visions ahead. Mr Hung has also proudly announced of our WMS/Barber partnership in his annual speech. Barber was also invited to give a speech and was represented by Stein Eriksen.
It has been a very encouraging achievement in Vietnam and Barber is now seriously studying into the feasibility of expanding further, with the hope of a physical presence in this exiting and fast moving country when the size of operation grows.
