Despite having modern equipment on the bridge, accidents still occur.  Poor Bridge Teamwork has often been cited as the main reason for these mishaps.  This has compelled the maritime industry to have a second look at the navigation practices being followed at sea.  New ideas on effective Bridge Team Management are being explored.  IMTC has designed a course which is tailored to address these deficiencies.  A state of art full mission Norcontrol Polaris Ship Manoeuvring Simulator is used to bring various aspects of good bridge teamwork. The simulator exercises are designed to enhance teamwork and other aspects of resource management like challenge, response, authority, assertiveness, leadership and decision making including proper use of all available bridge equipments, etc. Oil majors and port state control inspectors have realized the value of such courses and now insist that all officers undergo training in Bridge Team Management.

It has become an industry requirement for an officer to undergo a 3 Days Bridge Team Management course.
