Global provider of maritime services
Wilhelmsen Maritime Services (WMS) represents the WW group’s ambition to be a substantial player in the maritime service sector. Through highly recognised brands and a unique global network, it offers products and services which contribute to a substantial improvement in the operational efficiency of its customers. By combining expertise across business units in the form of human capital, processes and innovation, WMS seeks to change industry dynamics in the maritime service sector to the benefit of customers.

Focus on providing products and services to the merchant fleet
Wilhelmsen Ships Service has the world’s largest maritime network, with 350 offices in 71 countries, and handled 54 000 port calls in 2009. In addition, it made 208 000 product deliveries to some 23 000 vessels.

Its focus is to deliver improved vessel operating efficiency to the merchant fleet. A comprehensive range of standardised services is offered, backed by a global service and logistics organisation to meet customer requirements for quality, availability and cost.

Focus on safe and efficient vessel operation

With a portfolio of more than 350 vessels, Wilhelmsen Ship Management (WSM) provides solutions for the following segments; LNG/LPG carriers; Ro-ro and PCC/PCTC vessels; Product /Chemicals (LRI, LRII, MR and Chemical tonnage), Cruise, Bulk carriers, Seismic and Offshore vessels.  It also offers an extensive programme for vessel manning and training of seagoing personnel.

Other key areas include lay up management services, dry docking services, green recycling, green passport, marine insurance, crewing for offshore work, project staffing, and technical and operational solutions for inspection and auditing.

The company manages vessels from offices in 6 countries and has a crewing network of 17 offices in 11 countries.  With the economic downturn, some of our customers are working closely with WSM to find ways to save operational costs for their vessels.  On a few occasions, we work with our customers in providing full lay up management services.

Focus on environmental, safety, HVAC-R and power solutions
Wilhelmsen Technical Solutions is a global provider of cost efficient, fully engineered solutions, equipment and services for newbuilds and retrofits in the maritime and offshore industries.

Our expertise includes fire suppression and prevention, water treatment, heating, ventilation, air-conditioning and refrigeration (HVAC-R), power optimisation, power distribution and control systems. Wilhelmsen Technical Solutions designs, produces, installs, commissions and maintains its solutions for the lifetime of customers’ vessels, rigs and platforms.

Today, roughly a quarter of the world’s merchant fleet use Wilhelmsen Technical Solutions' equipment and solutions, and over the last few years equipment deliveries have been made to one third of all newbuilding projects in the world. Furthermore, HVAC systems have been delivered to more than half of the installations on the Norwegian continental shelf.

Positioned for growth
The market for maritime services is characterised by solid growth resulting from the expansion of the world fleet. This favourable development has yielded positive results for all the WMS business units.

New requirements for the maritime industry will basically be positive for Wilhelmsen Maritime Services. Experience indicates that tougher environmental standards could call for new product and service concepts which will in turn yield further income flows.

Wilhelmsen Maritime Services’s ambition is to be a leader in the development of the maritime service industry. Success criteria will include a good balance between size, global infrastructure, technology and able employees.
