In its assessment, the Chancellery of the Order has given weight to the services he has rendered to the shipping and petroleum industries. His socially-minded attitude and contribution to Norwegian cultural life have also been emphasised.
- I perceive receiving this honour as a tribute to all the competent co-workers in the Wilh. Wilhelmsen organisation world wide. Without their valuable contribution to the Norwegian and international maritime communities, I would not have received this honour, says Wilhelm Wilhelmsen.
The investiture will be conducted by Head of the Chancellery Egil Vindorum, assisted by Chancellery officer Thomas Gram, at the Wilh. Wilhelmsen offices in Lysaker on Tuesday 6 February 2007.
