On Wednesday 29 December, immediately after the catastrophe was a fact, the Norwegian Red Cross organization received NOK 100,000 from WW in support.
WW increased its support by donating NOK 500,000 to the organization Doctors without Borders on Monday 3 January. The company considers to increase the contribution even further over time.
- "There is a critical need for help right now. We want our contribution to benefit the victims straight away. At the same time, we know that there will be a need for long term aid as well. Therefore our support will not end here. We will continuously evaluate the situation and are prepared to render further monetary contributions", says Ingar Skaug.
None of WW’s employees, offices or vessels were affected by the tidal waves.
WW is a leading international supplier of maritime services. The company has 15,000 employees in 265 offices, and is represented in 64 countries around the world.
