He comes from the job as managing director of United European Car Carriers, owned by Wallenius Lines and Nippon Yusen Kaisha. Earlier appointments include manager of activities in the American continent for Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics (WWL). Wang has also been commercial manager for all WWL’s operations worldwide, and has gained broad experience from various appointments in the Wilh. Wilhelmsen group since 1981.
He worked in Korea in 1989-90 as the man in charge of the commitment by Norwegian Specialised Auto Carriers (NOSAC) to the Korean export market for cars.
With a degree in business economics from Herriott Watt University in Edinburgh, he has completed the Advanced Management Programme at Harvard Business School in the USA.
EUKOR was established in 2002 following the acquisition of Hyundai Merchant Marine’s car transport division. It is owned 40% each by Wallenius Lines and Wilh. Wilhelmsen, with the remaining 20% held by Hyundai Motor Company (HMC) and Kia Motors Corporation (KMC). Holding a long exclusive contract of affreightment with HMC, EUKOR’s business includes handling all car exports from Korea for HMC and KMC as well as transport for a number of other car producers. It carried 3.2 million cars in 2006.
Carl-Johan Hagman, the outgoing chief executive, has headed EUKOR since the company was established. He has accepted an appointment as president and CEO for Sweden’s listed Transatlantic AB shipping company.
