Oil tanker familiarization 

This course conforms to the requirement of STCW 95 and is approved by the Directorate General of Shipping.

The faculty is dedicated to instill the basics of safety and practical tanker work in the participant. Pains are taken to ensure that the participant is well grounded and feels comfortable even though he is joining a tanker for the first time. An exhaustive library, audiovisual facilities and familiarization with equipment used on tankers, provide added value to the course. 

Course Objective:

Successful completion of this course should enable candidates to serve on Oil Tankers in a capacity other than Master, Chief Engineer, Chief Officer or 2nd Engineer, and to perform specific duties and responsibilities related to those duties in connection with cargo and cargo equipment, provided that they are not immediately responsible for the loading, discharging, care in transit or handling of cargo.

Suggested Target Group:

All Officers and Ratings intending to join a tanker and who will be assigned specific duties and responsibilities related to cargo or cargo equipment on tankers. They should have completed an approved shore-based fire-fighting course and an approved course in First Aid.
